About Robert Boettcher
Background:
Rob Boettcher is an active community member and resident of Sugar Land for the past twelve years. Rob chose Sugar Land to start and raise a family due to its great family atmosphere, safety, and suburban way of life. He is running for Sugar Land City Council to preserve what makes Sugar Land great while guiding it towards its promising future.
A dedicated leader and public servant, Rob serves on the Zoning Board of Adjustment (second term) and is actively involved in the Sugar Land Strategic Action Plan. His deep commitment to the city—where he lives and works—earned him the full endorsement of Incumbent Jennifer Lane, who encouraged him to run as she completes her third term.
Rob comes from a family dedicated to public service. Both of his grandfathers, three uncles, and four cousins served in the armed forces including the Marines, Army, Navy, and Coast Guard. His father was a career civil servant for the federal government having served in leadership positions in various departments including Commerce, Capitol Police, DOJ, & Homeland Security. Rob even started his engineering career in the public sector working on hydroelectric power plants for the Department of Interior.
Since then, Rob has grown in his career to become a Senior Engineer for Schlumberger, the largest oil and gas services company in the world. His next step is working to serve and represent the great constituents of Sugar Land.
Family:
Rob and Leah have been together going on ten years. They met at a local pro baseball game in Bakersfield, CA while Rob was on field assignment for Schlumberger. At the conclusion of the assignment, they moved back to Texas together and purchased a beautiful home in Sugar Land, TX where they raise their adorable nine year old daughter Lilah and one year old son Liam. They are both a frequent fixture at political events, Executive Committee meetings, and Conventions. My family looks forward to meeting you on the campaign trail!
Education:
Rob holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland College Park.
He finished his Bachelor’s degree in 3.5 years and his Master’s degree in one year – all while playing club baseball and working engineering internships over the summers.
Career Experience:
Rob is currently a Senior Engineer with over a decade of engineering experience in various roles and companies focusing on energy generation, distribution, and most recently oil & gas. A career with Schlumberger, the largest oil & gas services company in the world, along with favorable tax environment and a great community to live and raise children was a primary motivator for Rob to move to Sugar Land, TX.
He understands how important energy and oil & gas is to the local economy. With his expertise in problem identification, root cause analysis, and cost efficient solutions, Rob will utilize that same skill set while serving Sugar Land.
